Peter Stanton is Executive Chairman of the Board of W.T.B. Financial Corporation. He is the fourth generation of the Stanton family to lead the bank. Pete began his career at Washington Trust Bank in 1982 and remains at the helm today. He became President of Washington Trust Bank in 1990 and served as Chairman of the Board and CEO from 2000 until April 2024. Under
his leadership, the bank experienced remarkable growth. Washington Trust is the largest privately owned community bank in the Northwest with $11 billion in assets. Pete has also led the thoughtful expansion of Washington Trust’s footprint to better serve business and personal banking customers in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
Pete is a member of the Washington Roundtable, a nonprofit organization focused on developing public policies that support economic vitality and foster opportunity for all Washingtonians. In addition to holding positions on numerous civic boards, Pete was president of the Washington Bankers Association from 1995 to 1996 and State Chairman of the American Bankers Association from 1997 to 1998.
Pete holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Oregon, a Master of Business Administration in accounting and business economics from the University of Washington, and an Advanced Banking Degree, with honors, from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware.
