Clark County businesses are bracing for new and higher tariffs the second Trump administration is expected to institute this week.
President Donald Trump proposed 25 percent tariffs against Canada and Mexico earlier this year but ended up postponing them. He announced last week — and reiterated today — that he intends to move forward with the tariffs starting Tuesday.
Businesses don’t know what to expect, said Mike Williams, regional vice president for Washington Trust Bank. His bank has been advising commercial clients on tariffs, which are taxes paid by companies buying foreign goods.
